Due to the rural location of NAS Whidbey Island, some educational and medical services may require more than a two-hour commute to locations such as Seattle, Bremerton, or Joint Base Lewis/McChord to receive needed care. Check in with the Fleet and Family Support Center EFM Liaison, who can assist in navigating resources with you. The EFMP Case Liaison can be contacted by calling 360-257-6289/2271.
Washington State and local areas may have specific rules governing potentially dangerous animals. Please check the animal control department where you plan to reside for current rules and regulations.
Weapons Policy:
No weapons are allowed on Ault Field or Seaplane Base.
All personnel residing in government quarters are required to register their weapons with NAS Whidbey Island. Registration is done 24/7 at the Torpedo gate on the Seaplane Base. Unloaded weapons must be brought to the gate with a valid driver's license and military identification card. Ammunition cannot be located anywhere within the vehicle at any time during registration.
All firearms must be registered with the PPV Housing Office within three (3) days of occupancy or procurement of firearms. Firearms and ammunition must be stored separately in safe, locked locations. Loaded guns in the premises are prohibited. Displaying or discharging a weapon in the PPV housing area is prohibited. Hand grenades, bombs, and blasting explosives are also prohibited.
