College/Technical Training Overview

If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.

Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO.  These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals.  To contact a career coach call 800-342-9647 or visit https://myseco.militaryonesource.mil.

The Yokota Education Center contracted universities offer many different degree programs to include: Associates, Bachelors and Masters Degree programs. The academic institutions that we support are Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). 

University of Maryland University College offers a broad range of courses in disciplines such as Computer Studies, English, Mathematics, Government and Politics, History, Psychology, Sociology, Science, Business, and Management Studies. An extensive array of distance education courses is also available from UMGC.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers undergraduate degrees in Aeronautics, Aviation Maintenance, Technical Management, Aviation Security, and Unmanned Systems. A certificate program in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) prepares students for the FAA A&P Certification Exam. Masters degrees are available in Aeronautics, Aviation Maintenance, Unmanned Systems, and Human Factors. In-resident programs as well as online courses are available at Yokota AB. 

Active duty military and family members have access to various financial aid programs: the Montgomery GI Bill, Post 9/11 GI Bill®, Tuition Assistance, PELL grants, My Career Assistance Account (MyCAA).

The staff at the Yokota Education Center are here to help you with your educational needs. Our mission is to provide educational advice, counseling, and programs to assist adults in enhancing their careers, professional development and personal goals.  Educational counseling and testing services are also available by appointment.
